Dear Valued Clients, Friends and Family,
As we say goodbye to one of the most extraordinary years in history, we reflect upon what has occurred and look forward to a better and brighter new year. Among the challenges there were many lessons learned. We learned to slow down, appreciate home, and spend needed time with loved ones. This year brought us “closer” to one another, even while we were 6-feet apart.
Even with all the uncertainty and volatility in 2020, the markets ended the year on a positive note, with two of the three major indices closing at record highs. The S&P 500 gained about 16%, the Dow roughly 7%, and the Nasdaq more than 43%. Investors are looking forward to a significant economic bounce in 2021 as the economy is aided with additional fiscal stimulus and the roll-out of vaccines.
There is an old Irish New Year’s tradition that involves people opening the back door of their house just before midnight to “let the Old year out” and opening the front door to “let the New Year in.” Not banking on superstition, but this might be worth a try to rid ourselves of the remnants of 2020.
