Retirement Services

Apriem Retirement Plan Services provides investment-related services to employerbased retirement plans such as a 401(k) or 403(b), as a fiduciary within the meaning of Section 3(21) of ERISA.

A fiduciary is one who owes a duty of care and trust to another and must act in the other’s best interest. As a retirement plan sponsor, you are considered a fiduciary with respect to the participants and beneficiaries in the plan.

Plan Sponsors can delegate their fiduciary duties but not their fiduciary responsibility. That is where we come in to help you fulfil your fiduciary duties.

We provide services to the Plan as a fiduciary within the meaning of Section 3(21) of ERISA. This involves making investment recommendations, but we do not have discretion over plan investments. The plan sponsor still ultimately makes all final decisions and is the party responsible for taking action on the recommendations.

Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®)

  • We take our fiduciary responsibilities to the highest degree. That is why all of our staff are or in the path of becoming an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) professional.

Foundational Financial Plan

  • On a regular basis pursuant to a mutual agreement with the Plan, we provide investment advice, investment education, and Foundational Financial Plan to sponsor and participants.

How We Can Serve You

For Plan Sponsors, we assist in a co-fiduciary capacity providing customized investment advice and education.

Customized Investment Advice

Based on criteria that have been established by the plan sponsor, we assist in the selection and monitoring of investment options using a combination of technical and top-down analysis.

Plan Participant Enrollment Meetings:

We conduct enrollment meetings explaining the benefits of Plan participation, investment objectives of Plan, and investment options.

Co-Fiduciary Advisor

Under ERISA section 3(21), we assist in a fiduciary capacity in giving the Plan advice for a fee. The Plan Sponsor still exercises fiduciary discretion and functions as a prudent investment expert by approving funds menu along with the correlative liability of that role.

Plan Participant Foundational Financial Plan:

Pursuant to a mutual agreement with the Plan, we provide Foundational Financial Planning with Plan Participants.

Plan Sponsor Education

On a regular basis pursuant to a mutual agreement with the Plan, we provide investment advice that will serve as a primary basis for investment decisions with respect to plan assets and will be individualized based on the particular needs of a plan.

Plan Participant Financial Education:

Pursuant to a mutual agreement with the Plan, we provide general financial and investment information to Plan Participants.

How to Get Started

Requesting a proposal is easy: Complete a census and return it to Apriem.

If you already have an existing plan and would like to see how your plan stacks up against the rest of the market, we can help provide you a benchmarking study. In order to perform a benchmark comparison we will need a copy of your:
